SEARCH WITH ARVA
GENERAL INFO
Arva shovel probe
Arva: models with 1 antenna (analogical or digital/analogical), 2 antennas (digital or digital/analogical), 3 antennas (digital or digital/analogical);
Compatibility among the various models: frequency 457 MHz, signal and pause duration different among the models (signals overlap).
Shovels: plastic models (scanty) or metallic (OK); big shovel big excavation.
Probes: length (200-240 cm), velocity of assembling, weight.
Statistical facts
Survival curve: the first 15 minutes are vital.
Finding time: it is vital to have the arva, shovel, and probe.
Number of buried: 70% of the cases 1 just buried, 90% of the cases max 3 buried.
SEARCH SCHEDULE
1st signal search
Arva search + view
Search corridor (distance between searchers) 20 meters
Circular one searcher
Grid more searchers
Highest volume
Localization (once the 1st signal has been detected)
Induction line split line tangents (arva with 1 antenna): point towards better signal, move forward in a straight line for 5 meters, point towards better signal, move forward for 5 meters,
.; turn the volume down when possible.
Continuous and curve line (arva with 2 or 3 antennas): uninterrupted corrections of the direction dictated from the arva; the volume turns automatically down.
Definition of the point (5 meters from the buried volume 2)
Cross method works with all machines
operate close to the terrain (on bended knee)
keep firm the arva
detect the maximum signal at every change of direction
delimit a 1m per 1m area and probe
Probe
Cross sticks system.
Probe perpendicularly to the slope (not vertically).
Excavation and unbury
On slope: excavate from the bottom to the top.
Relieve the lungs and proceed to reanimation before terminating the excavation.
MULTIPLE SEARCH (localization)
2 buried
1st buried: see above
2nd buried:
circle method (arva with 1 antenna)
turn the volume up until the 2nd machine gets into
draw away towards the entrance until almost lose the 1st signal (the 2nd signal disappears almost immediately)
cover the circle with centre the 1st arva and ray same to the distance detected
cover the circle until the 2nd signal gets into (the 1st signal remains in the background and steady)
localize and define the point of the 2nd arva
3 circle method (arva with 2 or 3 antennas)
cover circles of ray 3 6 9 meters with centre the 1st arva
ignore the indications of more or same distances
3 6 9 meters and relative directions (they report to the 1st arva)
when a signal lower than 3 6 9 meters gets into, follow it to localize the 2nd arva
own machine method (arva with 3 antennas, read the machine instructions)
possibility to exclude the founded arva
2 close buried + 1 far off
1st and 2nd buried: see above
3rd buried: restart the circle search from where it has been abbandoned
3 or more close buried
1st buried: see above
Other buried:
micro circle method (all machines)
3 circles method (arva with 2 or 3 antennas)
each machine own method (arva with 3 antennas, see the machine instructions)
